On January 8 of 2010 at 22.00 the discussion, devoted to the Vazgen I Catholicos, was televised on Hay TV Channel.

 

 

 

 

 

Once again we saw that in the areas, relating to the Armenian past, present and future, there are no quiet and green meadows, where we can step with calm heart and feeling of confidence and consent, with the hope that at least in those rare places the door of Rescue unity is open, as Charents has bequeathed to the Armenian people.

It was hard to imagine that regarding Vazgen I Catholicos, who held his “strong father’s role" in the history of Armenia of the second half of the 20th century, such contradictory standpoints would be heard.

Even the excuse phrase, expressed by all, could not help:”... of course Vazgen I Catholicos was beloved and respected bishop”. If during the discussion, devoted to Vardan Mamikonyan, assumptions flashed, then during this television documentary there was used documentary artillery. It was also obvious that the experts from time to time crossed over to the personalized attacks, which goes beyond the TV project “We are Armenians” limits.

And the civilized methods, used by Arthur Bakhtamyan to restore the atmosphere of restraint and patience of the “storm”, arising in the studio, were not always effective.

So, the meeting of Armenian intellectuals with their recent past and each other was very interesting and sensual. Yes, Vazgen I Catholicos was one of the greatest Armenian bishops. We summarized the TV discussion results regardless of the total. In the end of the program Shahe Ananyan, who presented Vazgen I, made a wise saying: “You can not generalize omissions of the personality and consider the merits separately”.
