Master of laconic speech Stanislaw Lem has once said: “The facts are only where there are no people. When there are people the comments start”. The TV format of the project “We Are Armenians” does not accept laconism, so that there was no shortage of comments regarding the acts of bravery of Vardan Mamikonyan.
From the emotions in the hall one could assume that all participants had witnessed the events that were discussed. It is hard to believe that these events are far from us 15 centuries.
After the TV program a simple formula “Vardan Mamikonyan fought and died in the Battle of Avarayr for the sake of the faith” was given historical, political, strategic and moral “shape”, after which every sensible person would conclude that history is not a collection of myths, and often cruel - mirror, which people try to avoid. Our own ideas we appreciate more than the reality.
