Levon Ananyan: Conducting of Georgian Literature Days in Armenia has become a tradition
The edge of the impossibility has surpassed the limit
The ninth discussed differed with its essence, as it broke the stereotype of common TV discussion. The atmosphere became an unusual one owing to an eminent specialist of Kilikian studies, the Sorbonne University professor, author and organizer of numerous books and exhibitions about Kilikia Claude-Armen Mutafyan.
Why aren’t we well aware about Levon II Roubinyan (Magnificent)? Despite the fact he was a smart, skillful as well as flexible statesman, Soviet Armenian literature did not consider it important to write of this episode, which is the part of the rich 300 years old history of this Mediterranean kingdom.
This stereotype is not broken yet, alas. We should mention that even on the walls of recently constructed Yerevan Major’s Office, where the names of all Armenian previous capitals are written, one cannot find the name of Sis (capital of Kilikia).
But the trend is a completely different one regarding the last decade. The literary and scientific works, together with numerous translations, published in this period, (Vahram Martirosyan, Claude Mutafyan, Grigor Mikayelyan, Levon Ter-Petrosyan), provided our readers with an opportunity to learn something more and at the same time very important about our heroes. The most attention-grabbing is that the stereotype was not broken, as our modern readers were more interested in other heroes already.
To describe and analyze the “magnificent”activities of Levon II the consistent research is required, as he has not perished at the battle field or become the victim of palace intrigues, as well as has not left any aphorisms (which would match to the taste of any writer): so, his life cannot become the subject for literary or dramatic analysis in our times.
It comes to be known that the great role in history and its annals is not enough to deserve the gratitude of the upcoming generations.Probably it seems a little immodest, but I am sure this project will make many of our spectators to analyze and realize, at least at the level of encyclopedic knowledge, the activities and role of Levon II King in the history of our country.
On February 19, at 10:00 in the evening, we will speak about Komitas Archimandrite.
